ISSL Season II Preview

Lucca Domingos

It’s that time of the year again: time to stress over your grades, run up and down talking to all your teachers, and celebrate your achievements. For the seniors, it is the time to be anxious about college, the time for important decisions and the time to study for the IB exams. For the juniors, it is the time to be drafting college lists, the time to be finishing their first IB papers, and the time to be studying hard for their SATs and ACTs. For the sophomores it is the time to prepare for the IB and the time to make the tough decision of which HL subjects to take. For the freshmen, it is the last phase of  their adaptation to high school and the realization of who they want to be in this new phase of their lives. Meanwhile, for the 8th graders, it is the excitement, mixed with fear, of a new beginning as they prepare to enter high school.

But more importantly, it is the time to cheer, raise our school spirit, and give our support to one another.  Now is the time when our fellow friends and athletes are going to São Paulo to represent us once more in the International Schools Sports League (ISSL) Season II.

The ISSL Season I, which took place in 2015, was spectacular and very promising. The expectations for this season's ISSL are running high among all four teams (Boys Futsal, Boys Volleyball, Girls Soccer and Girls Volleyball). The preparations for it began right at the beginning of the season in the last months of 2015. The Boys Futsal team won second place in a local championship (the GESAL) and had a friendly game with the school Salesiano Nasaré that ended in a tie with a score of 2. Both volleyball teams, in preparation, also played against the school Sartre Coc. The boys won two sets to zero and the girls tied one set to one. With very good results in last year’s ISSL Season II and very few members leaving, both teams are strongly built and prepared to bring home great results for PASB.

For the seniors, it will be the last ISSL and for some freshmen and eighth graders their first. It is with a nostalgic feeling that we thank them for their contribution to PASB and hope that they can have the best tournament ever.

At last, it is with this energetic spirit that we should act in the next couple of weeks!

GO PANTHERS!!
